Long day

the day starts with a joking response that i will be in a parade.
it's not a joke.
i am in the parade. i don't wont to be. i don't like the town where the parade is. most of the town barely cares for police. then i get to stay around

the only interesting part of the parade is the pow wow dance that follows.
then i leave.
then the sgt says he doesn't remember saying i had to go to the parade. M disagrees.

then 6 extra hours of OT, for the forest camp grounds, because there is only 1 forest officer for the whole pond and he only monitors one small section, so there is extra money. the bad thing is there is no one there this weekend, so it was incredibly boring.

Really?

I have had two calls in the last two days that annoyed me.

1-my older brother is mean to me. the short story younger brother lives with mom. younger sister killed herself the previous day. older brother came over to talk to mom. brothers got into a verbal argument. younger brother is being whiny about it. "he has been verbally abuse my whole life"

I found myself wanting to tell him just to fight his brother and get it over with. brothers fighting? gasp

2-the contractor touched me. the short version. landscaper and contractor dislike each other at the same development for past 10 years. landscaper "caught" the contractor turning on the sprinklers when he showed up to work. they exchange words and the contractor "assaulted" the landscaper.
-assaulted?
"he pushed me with both hands". he cries when he tells me. no witnesses.

talked to the other guy and admits arguing with the landscaper. he admits touching the landscaper, but says the landscaper put his ear plugs in and turned away from him. he taped him to get his attention.
-great leave each other alone.

I can't believe either call. I found myself amazed how silly people get

Man down

Morning shifts start with Officer S coming into briefing arm in a sling.
-I'll bite what happened

S says "I was going to a domestic call. I get there before the other officers. the female comes to the door, she is uncooperative and unfriendly. I insist that i need to talk to the male half. she doesn't want to cooperate. She starts to slam the door and I indistinctly throw my arm out to protect my head and my hand gets caught in the door. She deadbolts the door on my hand. I put a shoulder to the door and open it. everyone gets put on to the ground. she goes to jail and i have 3 broken fingers on my gun hand."

MJ update

MJ calls. I wrote about him before. He got my old job at my little pond, a second chance for him.

"you got a minute?"
-yeah
" i was going to back up another officer out of the pond. i was going code 2. i turned a corner to sharp hit a patch of gravel, which cause the rear end to slide out. I took out two sign posts and damaged the car"
-okay whats the problem.
"this is the third time i have dinged a car since i have been here. the chief put me on administrative leave, until he reviews the situation, i could be fired"
-oh crap MJ.
"what should I do? I called the chief and sent a letter, what should I do?"
-go see the chief in person. he is that type of guy, let him know how much you are sorry and how much you like the job.
"okay, keep your fingers crossed"

MJ called today. He will keep his job, gets his probation extended, gets a letter of reprimand and will retake a driving course, but he is excited he has a job.
-MJ now relax and think of this when you are rushing.

Beefed

Sgt stops me in the hall.

"you go out to Larry Dobs place Saturday?

-yeah for about 5 minutes helping M with a dog, why?

"Larry says the neighbors saw police in his yard at 2 pm and again later. And that they went into the house."

-no sir

"okay, i am trying to figure out what his damage is."

Sgt calls me 6 hours later at home.

"so Larry won't let it die and insists police were in his house. tell me the story."

-M gets an animal call at Larry's house. the dog is barking because it is caught up in the chain. He is there for about 5 minutes and calls for assist. i show up. M is in the front yard. He wants to know what to do, no one is home and he can see the puppy trapped and tangled in it's leash.
I hope the fence and walk towards the dog. M sees stairs that lead to upstairs apartment and goes to knock. I detangle the puppy, get bit, and walk with M back to his car. I am there maybe 5 minutes around 11am.

"Larry says the neighbors saw police go into the house. he thinks they were messing with his medical pot"

-i didn't enter the house and never saw M go into the house. I don't know what to tell you, than Larry is an ass. I am not going to jeopardize my job for Larry or his pot.

"I call M, thanks.

Lt.

Lt. wants to see me.

Officer S. jokes I should leave my uniform and my gun.

Lt. "you got the juvenile hearing with Smith coming up?"
-yes sir
"It is the juvenile who started the fire and I getting phone calls from Mrs. Smith. She does like your report. She doesn't drink and if she was drunk why didn't the officer give her a sobriety test. can you tell me about it."

-yes sir. little smith started two fires. he didn't cooperate, on advise from Mrs. Smith and Grandma, both of who were obnoxious, entitled and had an slight odor of alcoholic beverage coming from their breath when they spoke. i didn't think they were drunk just smelled like alcohol. I mentioned it due to their temperament. little smith lawyered up, but the other two juveniles gave statements that smith asked for a lighter and started two fires.

Lt." thanks, I just want to know what was going on."
-no problem sir

Heat

with heat around the state, my pond has been no exception.

last Saturday it was about 105 with humidity.

we don't leave the cars running per brass.

i jump in the car, start it crank the ac.

the temp gauge spikes, the check engine light comes on, the engine temp light comes on.

i pull over the car overheats and steams.

i call the Sgt and have it towed. car #4 is out of service

with #5 still getting fixed from my "accident" that leaves us 2 cars short.

i am known around the department as breaker of cars.

I get calls when i am traffic accidents i get calls from the office "what did you do to the car?"

Monday i sit down in on brass's briefing.

the civil deputy comes in hands the Lt. a paper who tells her to give it to me.

the civil hands me paperwork. it is a restraining order. i turn white, wondering who the hell would give a restraining order.

i flip through it. it is from car #4. i am not allowed within 10 feet and is signed by the almighty god.

i laugh, it's funny.
