Co-pilot

my wife is my unsung co-pilot. having her shit together, tying up and taking care of most of the things I don't have time to do while at work, between sleeping, having time to relax and vent.

So to all wives and partners, THANK YOU.

35

Yesterday was a new high in for calls, 35 in a 10 hour shift, including traffic stops, civil papers served and follow-ups to case I took that day. Not including the 8 case I did follow-up on, but never called out on.
35 beats the previous of 23.

Sign of the times

I get to work and get dressed. I am the only one around. It used to be at least 4 a shift. Now there are days I am the only person in the locker getting ready.

Traffic

Traffic court is brief. The only matter is the girl, Maggie, who was driving her friend Tina's car.
The collision started when Maggie did not see the cars stopping in front of her and rear ended them. Both Tina and Maggie went to the hospital. Maggie's cell phone was found on the floor still in the text menu, with a text message sent a minute before the collision was reported. Maggie's license is still provisional and invalidated by Tina's age.
I follow them to the hospital. Maggie gets a big ticket.

Maggie and Tina call the next day.
"We switched seats, Tina was driving"
-you realize that you both wasted alot of time and lied?
"Yes"
they want me to get rid of the ticket.
-both of you write a letter explaining what you did and I will put it in the report. I would expect criminal charges.

The traffic judge listens and then yells at Maggie. Tina did not show up for her friend.
The judge delays ruling on the traffic violations until the criminal matter is resolved

Linda

Linda wants to report her car stolen.
This is the 6th time she has wanted to do so. I took the original report and found out the car was taken from a locked garage, without keys.
I located a family member who told me they took the car from 85 year old.
The 3rd time she calls it in on a shift, I ask dispatch to just close it out.
Dispatch is annoyed and ask if I am going to make contact.

-she doesn't remember the other times I talked to her and she won't remember in 5 minutes.
