Lugnut rule

The lug nut rule. the more lug nuts a vehicle has means they will win in a collision. example car vs semi truck. semi trucks have way more lug nuts than a car and win in a collision. same holds true for car vs. bicycle.

Overdose

I get called with another officer to a overdose. Gary took all his medications and can't be awakened. Gary is unconscious in recliner. Gary is 500 lbs. He is on his back and barely breathing, the EMTS are a ways out. We try to roll him on is side, but his weight and the recliner make it impossible. I suggest we dump the recliner on it's side. it works and the recliner is pushed aside. EMT arrive and we assist with the lifting onto the gurney and into the ambulance, the two EMTs can't handle it.
Gary lives far from the hospital and the helicopter can't take him because of the wait. He is rushed to the hospital, where he doesn't improve. Gary is taken off live support, he dies.

Versions of busy

I get to work early and find a back log of calls. I jump in early and start taking calls.
Hours later I reminded about a juvenile referred to a SRO.

"I talked to the parents, but I was to busy to talk to her, there was a sit in at the school and I was super busy."

okay, as long as you are aware of the problem.

I take an assault report. the Two uncles are assaulted by the two nephews, who escape. A female is identified as being there. Stopped near the scene, she denies anything knowledge, twice.

She calls a couple days later wanting her stuff from the uncle's house. She is hostile and now says she was present and "knows the whole story" and i am stupid. i ask her to meet with me, she won't. i warn her about associating with the nephews since they have not been caught yet. she wants to argue and i hang up.

I don't have time to be lied to over the phone.

Three days later another officer tries to stop a vehicle that eludes, crashing into a parked car. One of the nephews run (the driver), the passenger isn't so lucky. The female is caught. I request an interview. The other officer finds meth in her purse.

-hi I'm DD. remember the conversation we had about not associating with the suspects and interfering with the investigation.
"I remember you hung up on me"
-great, do you have anything you want to tell me about where the suspects are?
"i don't know anything. the one guy just picked me up"
-okay you are going to jail on hindering.
"you are stupid and making things up"

she becomes "non compliant" with the female officer's commands and I assist in restraining her, involving an arm bar into a wall. she tells me how stupid i am all the way to the jail.

Felony Cell Phone

Waiting to turn at the light, I glance into the rear view mirror.
I see a female talking on her cell phone.
I make the turn and pull aside, so she can pass and then stop her.

-i am DD, i stopped you because you were talking on your cell phone.
"I am sorry. I didn't know you couldn't do it"
-license, registration, insurance
"I can't find the registration or insurance, but I just want to go pick up my kids."
she is all over the place in the car, moving and talking.
-keep looking, I'll be right back

she comes back suspended and on probation for drugs. i walk to the car.
"i can't find the insurance, can i just go pick up my kids?"
-well we have a problem, you are suspended
"i have to pick up my kids"
-i am going to see why you are suspended, i'll be back and we will go from there

i walk to my car and review her driving record, suspend from drug court.
she exits the car and starts walking towards me. i give her orders, she complies.
-is there anything in the car i should know about?
"are you going to impound it? no"
-i don't know if you have insurance yet. is there any contraband in the car?
"no"
-can I search the car?
"yes"
-is there anything in the car?

she looks at me
"yes, there bag of dope in the car. under the driver's seat in a purple bag. it's not mine.
-okay go ahead, put your hands behind your back. i am putting you into cuffs for my safety.

i request a second unit, cuff her and have her sit on my bumper.
under the driver's seat is a purple bag. I glove up and peer into the bag. there are used and un-used needles, two bags of meth, a digital scale and misc drug stuff. she also has marijuana in her purse.

I allow her call her boyfriend to pick up her kids, notify her PO and take her to jail.
