And one for you

While waiting for my day to start. I am signing what most likely will be the last ticket book before I jump to a much bigger pond.

I had the last two test; physical and mental. The physical is no big deal the end. Part 1 of the mental is a one on one with the PHD (mrs says no joking about being nuts with the PHD) Part 2 consist of 877 true or false questions: (Examples)

I want to hurt others.
I want to be a poet.
I hear voices.
I think I am the wrong gender.
People will all lie to get ahead.
I sometimes want to set fires.
I would like to be a professional dancer.
I am easy to anger.
I have smoke marijuana.
Torturing animals is fun.

Now I will wait to see if I am not crazy enough to jump into the new pond and all the fun moving entails while starting a new job.

Man I am going to use the all the tickets up. I usually average about at least two books a month.

Mental Hold

I have a Sunday night shift to cover for a guy elk hunting. Typically a quiet night. I am about to settle in to do some paperwork in the office between patrols.

I am entering the office and I hear a noise across the quiet city. A yell or bark or something. I can't tell where and what it is, so I go into the office. A whole 10 seconds late I get a call for 3 males yelling at each other, ready to fight behind the market.

It takes all of 14 seconds to get there. There is one male walking drunkenly towards me, while I can see two males three blocks down the street in the shadows. I tell the one male to stop and attempt to catch the other two, who disappear. I have the other unit search the area, while I talk to the one guy, who isn't smart enough to take off.

He is drunk and repeats himself over and over again. He wont' tell me what is going on. Only the same story, over and over again. He won't cooperate, so I take him to detox to sober up. He has the BAC of .249% and will spend the night there. I get the call on the way to Detox that the bar has a guy who can't pay for $29 worth of food and liquor.
-i';; be there in a minute-

I go to the bar. The guy has no money he never intended to pay. He asks for medics to check him out, because he is hallucinating. I have the medics check him. He starts making homicidal and suicidal threats and statements. I arrest him and take him to the hospital for a mental hold. He talks crazy the whole way there. I take him to the psychiatric unit and fill out the paper work. The nurse talks with him for about 5 minutes ans says what do you won't done with him. - I think he is dangerous to himself and others and I would like a mental health eval performed on him.-
"I see your point, but he is fine, what do you want done with him?"
-I have placed a hold on him, because he is dangerous. I want him eval. I am giving him to you for that purpose. What you do with him is your choice. If you release him and he walks out and stabs someone, that is one you.-
my head is tilted low, my face is starting to redden and burn, I can feel it. The other nurses and security guards are watching me.
"ok". he turns and walks off.
I leave, the other nurses apologize and the security guards apologize for the one nurse's behavior. I give a copy of the ORS to the security guards, so they can re-familiarise the staff with it.

I go back to my pond. I am doing follow-up at the bar. Dispatch call and the hospital wants to know what I want done with him. I re-explain myself to Dispatch. I call them on the phone an apologize to them about the tone. I hate re-explaining myself. They have security on the other line, the guy is wandering around the acting weird and they want to know if they he is dangerous.
-dangerous enough fo rme to put a MH hold on him.-
"ok"

I also learn of what my borhter always spoke of. The "growl". People look at you, challenge you, want to set the tone with you and want to control how things are going to be. The "growl" lets them know how it is going to be. I like being able to talk to people out and around tough spells, but I am surprised the amount of growling I have had to do.

Can't win them all

As much as I would like to win every time (or frackin close), I can't. Mostly I learned that years ago when I worked probation. The judge has the final word. Don't take it personal, sometimes the judge is soft, sometime they are want the person to have a chance. Move on do your job.

I am sitting late Friday night, early Saturday morning, blacked out at a four way stop. I am waiting for drunks to blow the stop sign or "chicken dinner" cars to come by.

I hear a car approaching. The thump thump of the stereo, from over two blocks away, coming from behind me. I see a Jeep approach. It sees me and music stops and turn the street before where my car is parked.

Great, I can just parallel it, because I believe it is trying to come out two blocks down on the main drag. I expect it to pop out onto one of the side streets. I search for the car. But, there are no cars, no tail lights and no one around. I backtrack where I saw the car turn. There is a jeep parked in a lot near the back entrance to a bar. There is male #1 in the passenger seat. Male #2 is near the back of the Jeep smoking. No one in the driver seat.

I drive up and ask if they were just coming down the street and parked. Male #2 "yes"
Are you the driver? Male #2 "no, he just went into the bar."

Both #1 and #2 smell like alcoholic beverages and are drunk. Neither male say he was driving and their buddy Ryan, was driving.

Why did Ryan take off? Male #2 "he was going to the store."
-There are only three things open in town and they are all bars. Call you buddy tell him to get back here.-

Male #1 and #2 are both suspended. #1 is on probation and has a no alcohol clause. So I contact the PO, who issues a detainer. One in custody.

#2 say his buddy, now named Mike, was driving, who he just bought the vehicle from. I call Mike, who was asleep and sold the vehicle to #2 about 10 days ago. #2 states there he did bought it, but another buddy was driving and he doesn't want to get him in trouble. #2 says there is no insurance on the vehicle.

I list the charges that I will be charging #2 with if he doesn't start telling the truth. I take the keys and take #1 to jail. I tell #2 I want him to get his "buddy" on the phone and I tell him to get back down here. #1 won't tell me what happened. #1 wonders how long he will be in jail he is the car provider for his paralyzed uncle. #2 promised to care for the uncle while #1 is in jail.

I make the trip to jail and back and meet with #2. He has a new name, William. I find the number for William Jr and Sr. The phone is busy. I am able to contact the grandmother who doesn't think either was in town.

I'm stuck. I am pretty sure #2 was driving the car. I am pretty sure I could arrest him for DUII. I could also get him for DWS-V, Driving Uninsured, False Info, and what else I can think of....
BUT
I didn't see him operate the vehicle. I didn't see him exit the vehicle. I lost sight of the vehicle that it would be reasonable (but not frackin probable) another person could have got out of the driver's seat and ran. With no driver I can't issue tickets, witthout a great defense (it would be thrown out by any good defense lawyer).

It bugs me. I give him his keys back telling him the if I see it move it will be stopped and impounded.

The car stays there all night. It's gone the next day. I call William, he wasn't there #2 called him and asked him to lie, because #2 was driving. William wanted no part. I remind William how good a buddy #2 is. #2 also called earlier bragging about driving home, out of the area.

I call #2. I ask him how the drive home was. #2 denies it.

-WRONG! I know you were driving last night and drove home today-
"No, I didn't and I wasn't"
-WRONG. If try to get people to lie to me you should at least get your story correct and not brag about it. -
"I wasn't driving."
-BULLSHIT!, So why should call the local PD and tell them not to arrest you and take your car?
"WHAT?! I...."

click, I hang up. he thinks he is deep shit. I call the local PD and request a call from an officer.
-Hey can you go to 123 S. Street and see if vehicle #123TYR is there?-
"Hey this Dpty. Zues. I am at 123 Street and the vehicle is there. Whats up?"

I explain the situation and give him the guys information. I ask for a favor watch the car, the house and guy. If he could lay some paper on the guy it would make my week.
"no problem, I am a traffic officer, I'll get it down.
-Thanks, let me know if you hit pay dirt.

I explain it to another officer who agrees I could arrest and cite him, but it would be weak at best.
I run into the cousin of male #1. He heard what happened. I point out what a good buddy #2 was to him and how #1's uncle won't have anybody to look out for him, or how I probably wouldn't have paid attention to #1 if I was able to prove #2 was driving. The cousin states #2, even called and bragged to him.

What I know and what I can prove...two different things.

The irony......I was offered a job in the city where #2 lives. Would it be wrong to introduce myself?

The Demise of my return...

I have been off.
I was going to test with another pond, but they said "due to budget concerns all new hiring is on hold", which saved me 6 hrs of driving and I got to spend the day with the wife.

We went to the local farm. I pointed out a "winner winner chicken dinner" car with 2 young guys acting weird as we arrived. They soon left the farm, but as we drove home with our pumpkins the var was out w/3 OSP cars.

So I went to work for two days, waiting for the real secret of my absence. Reno. 4 days off in Reno, with the mrs and the in laws. The in laws wanted to go with use for years now and before the weather turns bad. Love to do small gambling and sample all the beers.

No dogs to worry about. We kenneled the dogs at a new place, because of the last surgery the dogs just aren't excited about being kenneled at the vet.

So I get off work Sunday morning about 3 am, come home to bed and get up at 8 to pack the car and the dogs. We drop the dogs off at the kennel and drive to KFalls to meet the in laws, pile into one car.

Reno was great. Only bummer was Fitzgeralds is closing and the whole place had a bummer attitude. We spent almost no time there. In the past Fitzgeralds was a great little place. We won and had a good time. Now the end was near.

I made my first sports bet on the Monday night football game, Browns vs. Giants. FIL and I go down to the sports book and ask how to be. It's not hard and booky gives the run down.

Sure the Giants were 8 pt favorites, but betting on the Giants would have only won me $1 for every $10 bet, so I take Browns $1 gets me $3, so I bet $10.

We were going to have a fancy dinner. But Mrs, says, "hey lets got to Brews Brothers, so we can watch game and have good beer." god i love her.

I had a big guy who won $50000 hand everybody at the bar a $20. Which was neat, because I was at the bar.

It was nice hotel room with a huge tub. My brudda would have loved it.

What I won't be doing

I almost forgot this little tale. Lady calls she has trapped a raccoon. Seems the little buggers have been getting into the garage through the cat door and eating pet food and peanut butter. So she got a trap and caught herself a raccoon (which I found out is a no no w/o permit).

The lady calls and doesn't know what to do with the raccoon. I'll take it into the woods out of town and let it go. I am on my merry way, when I am provided with fish&game contact number. I call and talk to the person with the info. fish&game lady saws you can't trap w/o permit, but since it is already done go ahead and dispatch the raccoon. They could have rabies or some other disease associate with dogs.

-Okay, will do-. i say and hang up

I don't think so. I drive to the woods let the bugger go and tell my partner I let the raccoon go before I called fish&game. Ooops

I am not shooting an animal who is not injured, dangerous, and in a frackin cage. There so many animals in town, I am not shooting them because they came into contact with people. fish&game can come out and do it.
