I can't help you

Wayne calls again. Wayne is a young guy who lives with his extended family.
This is the 8 call in the last 2 weeks. Wayne believes his neighbors are making too much noise.
I have driven by the neighbors house. I have walked up to the neighbors house, trying to hear if they are loud. They are not loud. I have talked to the neighbors. They are a hard working family. They aren't making more noise than a family of 5 would at 5 pm. They have tried to be considerate of Wayne.

-Hey Wayne
"there music is too loud"
-no it isn't
"can you tell them to turn it down"
-no I will not. it is not loud and it is 5 pm
"they won't listen to me.
-I understand why. there is no sound coming from there house and it is not loud.
"could you tell them to turn down the music?"
-Wayne, like I and the other officers have told you it is not a unreasonable amount of noise. It is a residential neighborhood and it is 5 pm.
"it is so loud"
-Wayne there isn't any sound coming from them
"can't you ask them to turn it down?"
-Wayne I can't help you
"I want to talk to a supervisor"
-you are more then welcome to talk to a supervisor, but he will tell you the same thing, have a safe night

Missing

Usually missing person calls involve hikers and kids.
Marvin got released from detox, still high and paranoid.
Marvin kept his family on edge for 12 hours, acting odd and believing gang members were after him.
A family member takes Marvin out into the woods to relax. Marvin disappears.
Do you know how hard it is to find someone who is paranoid and thinks people are after him?
Marvin doesn't want to be found, even 30 hours in the woods with no food/water/shelter. Marvin is found under a bush, hiding.

Overtime

No rule from chief, no more overtime without approval.
Officer J has been using "poor" judgement and time management.
J is doing his job well, but the decision to wait until the last 10 minutes to do all of his reports and the ability no to put blinders on has cost other officers overtime and now put J into another shift. This is the third shift change in less than a month, day shift little opportunity to fish and fellow officers who now have a reason to grumble.

Mike is upset that she didn't pick it up. Officer E calls Mike.
Mike knows the lady, she stopped by and asked to use his bathroom. Mike told her the bathroom was broke, so he told her to use the yard.
So she did.

Lloyd

Lloyd calls 911 to request to speak with an officer, to ask about carrying a gun
-this is DD what is your question?
"I'm calling to let you know that I am carrying a gun. If you knew what type of work I do for the FBI and what type of people are after me...so called christian..."
-well okay you can't carry it concealed without a permit and you can't possess a firearm if you are a felon
"Oh I understand. I mainly going to have it out at my home." he laughs at an inappropriate time.
-okay have nice day.
Lloyd sounds a little drunk.

Lloyd calls later
"A cable guy came by and knocked on my door. There is a no soliciting sign posted."
-okay is he still there?
"no, I asked him to leave, but if you did the type of work I did for the FBI" he laughs at an inappropriate time.
-what would you like me to do if he is gone?
"i'm just documenting in case something happens. People would kill me if they knew where I lived. I won't tell you what I do for the government. I'll take it up with the apartment manager."

About an hour later Lloyd calls 911 three times in fifteen minutes. To report the cable guy has come and went, to advise apartment manager isn't home and to report that he will be calling the FBI. I talk to him all but the fifth call. All conversations go at the first four. Lloyd still sounds a little drunk and laughs at inappropriate times.

I arrive at Lloyd's apartment. I have him step out side. Lloyd points out the firearm sitting next to his lazyboy.
-Lloyd, you been drinking?
"yes I have. Nothing wrong with that'
-no sir. so tell me what you do
"well you know the leader of Hamas was assassinated? Well the Israelis did it and I am in danger. People are looking for me. I also am closed to getting Bush and Cheney arrested. I am in contact with President Obama." he laughs at inappropriate times.
-okay Lloyd come with me.
I handcuff him and another officer takes him to my car.

"you can't arrest me. they will know exactly were I am! I am going to call the FBI. I'll have the district attorney's office destroyed. I know senator BLAH BLAH and congressmen BLAH BLAH".

I go into his residence to secure the firearm and get his keys. Lloyd's apartment, while not messy, show signs of his mental issues. Lloyd has stored about supplies and organized his computer into a office hanging a delusional conspiracy and believe that he works with the government.

I secure the gun in my trunk, after grabbing Lloyd's wallet, keys and phone.
-Lloyd I locked your apartment
"you realize they will know where I am?
-you realize you called 911 five times and gave them you information?

Lloyd tells me the whole drive to the hospital about how he know Obama (talking to him daily), Congressmen BLAH BLAH and Senator Blah Blah, how the DA is a joke and is suing them. Lloyd ends the trip by thanking me for doing my job, even if I am wrong and he will call the FBI.

I transport Lloyd to the hospital and recap to the nurse what occurred, in front of Lloyd, asking him if it sounds about right. Lloyd states it is all true, but he isn't sure why I brought him for a mental health evaluation. I give Lloyd a receipt for his pistol and tell him where he can pick it up.

Lloyd goes into intake with the nurse and several other staff members, while I fill the paperwork.

One of the nurse's comes out and say
"nice gentlemen, but he is a little crazy"
-yup
