35 hours

As I said the schedule was short and realized we were short for day shift, I volunteered for 3 extra day shifts, while already working swings. Effectively working from 6 am-11 pm.

It started on Friday getting off at 11:45 pm, due to covering calls that were backed up. I did get to take a car home with me, to save time downloading.

It started slow on Saturday
-traffic stop
-fight in the north pond, called off for a closer unit
-traffic stop, with a gentleman who didn't hear my sirens or see my lights
-trespass call hunters on someones property. 12 guys wandering a thick wetland areas with shotguns. The owner of the property mad they were on his property, the hunters accessing the wetlands properly. Me with my AR-15 in the tall moist grass trying not to get shot with buck shot.
-a stolen car. he parked it on a road while elk hunting. he came back and couldn't find it, he searched 3 days thinking he just was on the wrong road, before reporting it.
-hit and run. someone backed into his utility trailer
-civil call, "my nephew won't give property to me. i want you to come to the north edge of the pond and make him give it back" -maam we don't do that
-civil call, (same lady), "my nephew stole the property", -maam you have take him to civil court
-911 hang-up, kids playing with phones
-traffic stop
-traffic stop
-traffic stop
-hit and run, someone sideswiped his car early in the morning, no witnesses or suspects
-assault....the civil call from earlier. the lady went to the nephew's house to demand the property and was allegedly assaulted. called off after another north pond unit took it
-suspicious. people are artifact hunting on ground without a permit. the responsible left before i arrived. they live out of the area. i contact the pond where the suspects live in and request contact with them.
-harassment. the family wants the girlfriend of the one brother to leave their property and stop calling. The girlfriend wants to tell me the whole story and so does the family. I do the quick version. everyone is trespassed from calling or coming onto the others property, if you do you go to jail. family understands, girlfriend wants to argue and bring up petty crap.

I attempt to get a bite of food, but...
-theft/suspicious. another unit calls for a second unit. there is a different person removing artifacts from a burial ground. the lady hides in the bushes. she has artifacts in her pockets and was attempting/about to, remove part of a skull. Turns out the area is a burial ground....She trespassed through private property to get to the grounds. She drove a car with alter VIN, no registration, altered plates, no insurance and no license to the grounds and parked infront of a HUGE no trespassing sign. She goes to jail.
-car accident. which turns out to be less of a car accident and more of a drunk person needing medical
-fight. 8 youths fighting. no one around when we get there.
-juvenile problem, out of control youth
-follow up on the hit and run, trying to figure if neighbors vehicle was responsible, it wasn't
-suspicious. an ATV flipped off road. It is at the top of a forest road 3 miles out, on the side of a steep incline. It is dark and I can't find the VIN to prove it's stolen or what. I check the hospital, no odd injuries.

-disturbance. a man wants his "guest" to leave. she is his girlfriend and has lived there. he smells of alcohol at 10am. dispatch at first tells me he is clear and valid, which is odd because he told me he is on probation for assault, including his probation officer's name. which is quickly changed to "DD -10-26" (10-26 is caution i.e. warrants.) in this case 3 warrants. he blows .24 at the jail
-follow up on the theft. i recover another fake $100 (same serial numbers of the 1st). this gentleman got it from the same guy the first guy did.
-follow up from the disturbance were the 8 yrs was struck. mom has more question

No I won't be

I get a call of alleged child abuse. I snag QuietDD to come with me as a cover, so I can do interview.
He is clearing a typical phone harassment call and follows me out to the location.

The radio crackles.
"WT call the Lt."
"QuietDD call WT"
I arrive on scene and QuietDD is no longer behind me.

I call QuietDD
-you coming?
"Nope. The 'victim' emailed the chief. The chief called the Lt. The Lt called WT and WT called me. I am going to 're-evaluate'. WT is going to 'help'."
-sorry to hear about the goat rope.

I clear the abuse call, unfounded and hear QuietDD being told to go 10-15 with the suspect, as per WT. QuietDD calls,
"I guess (I was told ) it was menacing and telephonic harassment, so i arrested her"
-you poor unlucky bastard,

If brass tells you to do something, you do it.

Day Shift

The next two weeks we are short day shift.
How short? 1 or no officers.
I look at the schedule and flag down the Sgt.
-I'll checked the schedule and I'll work doubles on these 3 days.
"Really, I'll check the schedule. Yup were short and I'll put you in for the those days"

Two days later the word comes down the pipeline, assigned overtime and shift switching for most officers.
The exception is me. I get keep my shifts and the overtime I signed up for. Another Sgt asks why I signed up for doubles?
-i saw we were short, i wanted to help and wanted to pick shifts, rather be picked
"You don't have to do that"
-yeah I know, but i like it here.

So next week I will be working 6am -11 pm for three days, the last three days of my week.

Frequent Flyer

HD is a local transient. Always drunk and trespassing.
The jail won't take him until he is medically cleared, because he will go into the DT's at a certain point. The hospital doesn't want him, he had no real medical problem, harasses people and is medication seeking.

Over my last 8 shifts HD has been trespassed 6 times and detoxed 5, including walking into a house. He requests ambulance to look at his leg, which is a 2 month old wound that routinely gets infected and fills with maggots, because he passed out on a candle and it burned him horrible. HD doesn't take care of the wound, because h is always drunk. HD can't walk very well and alcohol makes it worse.

Brass is working on a solution to handle HD, due the time he is taking up.

No we won't

A call in an outlying area of the pond.

Assist to medical. An 83 year old lady tried to break up a dog fight and got her finger bite almost off. One of the dogs was hers and that is the one that bite her finger off. Animal control doesn't work weekends, unless emergencies.

The lady wants me to come and shoot her dog.

-No, we don't do that. Secure the dog and seek medical attention. Call animal control Monday.

Stats

Wondering last week about how many case I had taken this year. I brought up all the calls for service and quickly ran through the ones I took a case on. As of two weeks ago 410 cases, I averaged 100 minor cases for the year in the last pond.

I also asked the traffic guy how to see how many tickets I had for the year.
The head traffic guy has 650 for the year. The secondary traffic guy has 333 tickets. I have 450 tickets for the year and I am not assigned traffic.

Customer Service

I recently had a took a report. Zak states while he was in Idaho for a year, his name was forged on paperwork and the title of his car was signed over.
The car that his ex-girlfriend was making payments. Amy had possession of the car now. Zak states he has done some research with the DMV and the transfer of title doesn't have all the right forms. He has the copy of the transfer form, which he claims is not his signature. Zak believes that Amy is responsible. Zak would contact Amy, but he has prior stalking order and can't contact Amy.

Red Flag #1, besides the guy being creepy and admitting he has a verbal deal to sell the car to Amy, now the "I used to have a stalking order against me"

I take a case and will begin the process to investigate. Detective Shell calls me and gives me the background on Zak.

"Zak used to be a stand up guy and then one day snapped. Cheated on his wife with Amy and then just went off the deep end more. They broke up and he called a death threat to Amy's kids and school. Zak was following her around and sending email, until he was arrested for the threat."

-thanks, that puts things into perspective.

I go meet with Amy at work and ask if she has the paperwork for the car. Amy is visibly shaking and upset that this is being investigated and can't believe she is being harassed. Amy provides documentation that she has title and registration. She bought the car from Zak after he purchased it. She got a weird call from him about a year ago and went to the bank to clear up some confusion. The bank, who was in contact with Zak, signed over the car into her name, with his permission and power of attorney.

I call the DMV and get records showing who owns it, since it was register. They have documents stating the power of attorney from the bank, with Zak's signature. It was signed over from Zak to Amy about a year ago. They mention no form missing or anything unusual in the transaction.

I call the bank that did transaction and leave a message

I call Zak and stating the investigation is concluded.

"Why?"
-no forgery occurred.
"but that isn't my signature"
-most likely not. it is the banks signature when you gave them power of attorney, included in the DMV's form.
"but there are forms missing!"
-not enough the DMV stopped the process or stop Amy for re-registrating the vehicle.
"What?"
-Zak , the investigation is concluded. leave Amy alone"
"DD a crime was committed and I am shocked you don't want to investigate"
-I did. No crime occurred. Stop using legal/civil matters to provoke contact with Amy. You are lucky I can't prove you knew this was false when you reported it, otherwise I would arrest you."

He starts yelling and rambling
-You can stop yelling or this conversation is over.
"Can I have your Sgt's names"

I give him the number and warn the Sgt. The call never came to Sgt, but I did get a fax from Zak with more paperwork regulations and scribbled note stating, how dare I assume he is stalking her and that a crime has occurred and the paperwork is out of order. I guess he talked to one of other Sgt.

I then go home, only to have a angry phone call from Amy who states I didn't call her back (i didn't promise to and told when I left this wasn't going any further). Amy states she and her work is going to get an attorney to prevent the office from harassing her. Amy is upset at Zak and now me for investigating crimes. She is going to contact DA office.

-okay

The next day I contact the bank. They don't have records of the transaction, but remember the deal. They contacted him Idaho and approved the transfer of title and the power of attorney that was included in the forms the DMV gave me. I asked to talk to the person who actually did the transfer, who was sick and will call me back.

I talk the report up and send it to the DA
