54 days
Two days before I was to be laid off, I got the call from brass.
"want to work for 60 more days?"
-sure
"stay in patrol for a week and we are re-arranging stuff"
The end of that week came and went and I was re-assigned.
I am in a "special assignment". Temporarily taking another laid off officer's spot, one with more seniority (which is explained by the "temporary" term, i.e. only 60 days), with 8 hours shifts of slow work, with co-workers who wonder why the higher senior guys weren't hired back.
Only 54 more days until I get laid off.
