temporary

Until September I will be work the day shift, to cover a resignation, and two injuries. They will let me know at the end of September if I will go back to graves.

Maybe

David had his computer stolen 3 weeks ago by Doug. Another officer took the report.
David had his new computer stolen by Harold. I take the report. David was only gone a half an hour to get his keys back from Harold, who never showed up.
David admits to me he met Harold on CRAIGSLIST and they met and had sex.
"you are going to judge me"
-I don't care, I am here about the computer. Tell me about Harold
"I only know his first name."
David implies the theft of the 1st computer maybe a similar situation. David has slightly more info on Doug a last name.

395

395 another term for DUII.
Last night we get a call of 395 headed into the my pond. Being near where he is last seen driving, I keep mobile, looking for the white pickup.

As I head westbound on street, I spot a white pickup waiting to turn onto a side street. I slow and get a partial plate which match the 395 vehicle. The vehicle turns into me, without warning.
I am going 40 mph. I manage to gun it and jerk the wheel out of the way, avoiding the collision.

I whip around and call out that the suspect 395 vehicle nearly hit me head-on.
He stops.
-how much have you had to drink that you thought pulling out infront of me would be a good idea?
"too much"

he refuses to take the Field Sobriety Test. I take him to jail, he refuses to blow, but provides a detox sample for the jail staff of .19% about 2 hours after I took him there.

Mandown

As I am patrolling a neighborhood at night I come across a man in the dark, in the roadway.

He is fighting for his life on his back.
Locked in a struggle with a bike and his sobriety.
I stop
-are you okay?
"FUCK YOU!"
-riding your bike and crash?
"FUCK YOU"
-so you are okay, can you get up and start walking home?

he gets up, set the bike up and staggers trying to look tough.
-you live right down the street, if you are okay and don't want to press charges against the bike, then go home, don't ride the bike.

he walks the bike to his house and goes inside. I dispo the call "fight between man and his bike, neither party wants to press charges and he is home"

Driver Passenger Combo

My Friday starts with several disturbances, into burglary, into civil calls.
I see a a vehicle that needs a stop.

"I don't have id or a license."
I run him by name and DOB and dispatch states UTL. I get him out of the car and pat him down. Something hard in his pants and I ask if I can take it out.
It is another altoids tin, a baggie with meth in it. He gets cuffed in the back off my car. I request a second unit and get consent to search the car.

The "ninja" shows up, known for creeping up on people. I explain and state there is a passenger in the car still. I get her out and pat her for weapons. Ninja stays with her and I search the car. Under the passenger seat is a meth pipe. Ninja detains her. She admits its hers. The both got to jail.

3 hours later comes the pot Driver/Passenger combo, driving with missing tail lights. The car smells like pot and the driver's eyes are reddish. He admits smoking and when pulled out of the car hands over his little bit of pot. He lets me search the car. Passenger steps out and a little bit of pot is found on him. The both get citations and a lecture about intoxicated driving and are sent on there way.

12 hrs

I starts at 8pm briefing.

Sgt "who wants to sit on a body for hours?"

I look around. I have the least amount of seniority. Everyone else yells "no it". No reserves are available
I don't bother. I know my fate is sealed. I place a call home to get a cooler ready with food for the long haul.

I pick up the search and rescue guy and his GPS and get the coordinates and directions.
I notify the officer that I am enroute, with some food, he has been there for 8 hours and according to him it will take 3 hours to get there.
2.5 hours later down a "dirt road" i relieve Officer T. T shows the body off in the distance.
"make sure it doesn't move, do checks every 30 minutes"
6 hours later relief comes and i can begin the 2 hour drive back

Carl pt. 2

I see Carl driving the same car I stopped the other day.

I flip around and light him up.

"ah man, DD"
-nothing in the car?
"no, you can search"
-I am going to pat you down for weapons, considering last time.
"understandable"

I pat him down and find an altoid's tin
"that just has weed in it"

he is clean for weapons, I look into the tin and there are two baggies, one with meth laying atop some crumbled weed.

I cuff him and he starts to object.
-what about the meth?
"i forgot that was in there"
-for someone who wants to be there for his kids you aren't trying very hard

Carl in less than 5 days has earned several felonies.
