My friday

it is my friday. it is supposed to be nice in slow. doing mostly traffic and helping out the trainee.

i get a 3rd party report of alleged abuse 2 hrs way. i drive up there the I-pod dies about 30 minutes into the trip.

i get there he doesn't want cooperate and she doesn't know what i am talking about.

i start driving home, stopping speeders.

about 1 hour into the drive back, i pop my front tire. i pull of to the side of the road. this is the fourth tire i have popped in 3 years working the road. the waves and honking by passersby makes it even more fun.

it takes a little while, but its good to know the jacks work and stop for dinner.

i meet Mikhail. Mikhail is from Holland and always wanted met an American police officer. i take a picture with him and then continue on my way.

all in all it took 5 and a half hours to take one car.



i am glad that the tire didn't pop the day before, when i was going 120.

Missile

it started as a stabbing, 20 minutes away. one unit is right there. he checks with the victim, who doesn't want to press charges. now he is out with four.

his radio traffic is sporadic and indicates he is fighting with one and people are throwing rocks.

he can't be raised on the radio.

he hasn't given his location and still can't be raised on the radio.

i am a missile, getting there as fast as i can.

i don't make any efforts to be stealthy or tactful i drive into the last area he called out and look for his lights.

i find him parked one guy sitting on the car and one in the cage.

he is fine, but has the locals bent out of shape

Elephant

I am the elephant in the room.

I am standing in the middle of the room.

Family and Friends come in the talk to mom, try to make her feel better.

Her son was at the end of the driveway.

She turned around and he was gone.

She got in the car.

She drove up and down the street.

Knocked on doors and called friends.

It is dark now. The volunteers are called out. The dog tries to find a sent trail.

2 hours go by.

I am elephant.

The son is found 6 miles away on a highway walking and returned.

Friday.
It starts with 2 patrol and 1 sgt for the whole pond.
It's M's friday, so I am trying to keep him out of paper.
It starts with a dead person
It moves to a harassment.
It gets interrupted by a fight of 20 juveniles
It moves back to the harassment.
It gets interrupted by a suicidal female.
It starts as a driving complaint.
It gets interrupted by a man threatening to shoot another over loose dogs. I take him out of his car at gun point.
It goes to a hold-up alarm at a bank.
I call the mrs and say I won't be home for dinner.
It gets interrupted by another suicidal female.
I take it to prevent M from catching paper.

It goes until 9 and then slows. M gets ready to start 5 days off. I do some traffic stops and patrol the school.
It's 8 minutes to off duty. graveyard gets potential burg in progress 40 minutes out. Graveyard Sgt calls and ask me to hold over until they get back.

I take several calls, stop a couple of speed racers, back up OSP.

I manage to get off 2 hrs later.

Long Term Problem

I noticed a trend, one day about two weeks ago.

At first I thought it was a fluke or an accident.

Then it happened another couple of days.

Calls are supposed to be on rotation, if officers are available.

One officer is noticeably getting skipped. Even when he is free.

I have cleared one call, to be dispatched to another, repeat x3.
Officer D has the same thing happen to him.

Officer M is not assigned any calls during that time.


Officer D "what is the deal with dispatch?"
-what do you mean? (I am on probation, don't start arguments or gripes)

"Dispatch isn't giving M any calls, what is the deal?"
-I thought I was the only one getting it, but I looked at your call history. you are getting it as well
"this is bull, if this continues.....
-I don't mind if it's a his Friday or he is on a call, but come on.
" I think it is because the ladies at Dispatch like him. I am may have to have a talk if it continues."
-we will see if it is a long term problem or short term.

That was last week. Every shift I work with M, I have noticed the same trend.
At one time I got 5 calls in a row. M was available the whole time. One call was 40 minutes away in the woods, followed by another extra patrol request another 30 minutes out and another 45 minutes driving around. All of which missed my dinner and on my friday. I was out of central area for over 4 hours.

We will see how it goes. If it continues.

"yeah so we haven't been paying you the right amount since you started. there was an error and they didn't factor in the college degree, so you pay will go up 5% and there will be a retro check for the last 6 months."

sweet. enough to pay for my new friend.

plus I received my intermediate certification, which means another 4% on next paycheck.

New Friend

After waiting for a long time to grab a rifle. I finally got the call. I was on waiting list at 8 different stores. If I wanted to pay double the price, I could get a used one from a stranger.

I contacted a LE friendly shop and got a call. It's in and pretty stock.
Sweet I'll take it for regular price.
And boom there she is.

Now I need; scope, soft case, magazines, grip for front and boxes of ammo.
I am still reading the manual. I have to learn to strip it.
I can also bring it to work and use it. The ones at work are old and beat up.

I am on a traffic stop. I here city get a call. A lady found a woman who claim she was assaulted. the caller can't get her to give details.

City goes out with the assaulted lady.

I clear the traffic stop in time to be dispatch to city's call.

city unit "this occurred in the county"

I get on scene.
city unit. " she is drunk. she was hitchhiking north of town. she was picked up by white male in a silver car. he pulled out a silver gun and pistol whipped her and the gun went off, while he was trying to sexually assault her, while driving. she doesn't like white people. and she isn't forthcoming with details."

victim has no signs of injury. no hearing loss. head injury

the emts are already helping her into the ambulance. her story has now changed. she was hit with a silver beer can.
-a silver bullter?

I can smell her 8 feet away and follow her to the hospital to get her statement.

At the hospital, the EMT says she has a new story.
EMT "the city officer got on scene and pistol whipped her"
-great

I call the city units.
-who arrived first? what happened?
"myself and officer B arrived on scene and contact reporting party (RP) and victim. Started talking and then called you"
-so you all got there at the same time? and no one pistol whipped her?
"NO"
-fyi that is what she states I am still getting her stories.
"thanks"

I talk to victim.
"I was at my cousins house. Two city units came in beat me up and punched me in the cunt, calling me a drunk indian bitch. then pistol whipped me"

-where is your cousin live

"i was at Motel 6 and two city units beat me up" (motel 6 in not city's patrol area)
-okay how/why?

"i was at motel 6 and got help from the manager and then tw0 city units showed up beat the crap out of me."
-how did you get 15 miles away into the city?

"you frackin cops are all the same. call my mom and let her know I got beat up."

i call mom.
-your daughter is drunk at the hospital and we are not sure what happened before that.
"did she say she was beat up by cops?
-can you explain?
"when she gets drunks she states gets beat up by cops. I don't know why."
-okay.

I leave a card with the "victim", call me when you get released if you want have any more info.

-DD to dispatch. you can close out this call. info taken, unfounded as a crime.
