By the way

I am waiting for briefing. Loaded and ready to go, when Dispatch sends an officer to a vandalism.

He isn't ready, not even dressed.

-Dispatch, I take the call

I arrived on scene.

"My brother cut the tires on my friends car."

Dispatch "there is a 30 person fight in bumsville"

I apologize to her and say I will return after the fight.

15 minutes of running code only to be 30 seconds out, when the first officer calls out.

"responsible parties left and looks like a soccer game broke out"
great turn around hump it back to the vandalism call.

-Sorry about that you were saying about your brother?

"He slashed my friends tires."
-okay tell me about it
"oh yeah he also choked me, until I lost consciousness and I think I got this 4 inch cut on my arm"

blink.....blink...blink

I get the whole story and talk to witness.

Brother came in the back door waving a knife, acting like he was on meth and asking about his niece and nephew. He got into a scuffle with his sister which moved into the bathroom. He put sister into a headlock, choking her. She passes out hits her arm, opening the wound on her arm. He yells her name, runs out of the house and then returns a short time later, still holding the knife and then leaves again. Friend of sister sees him crouched by the tires, knife in hand, and he runs when spotted. Friends checks on the tires both are losing air fast.

Brother's statement....."I want to talk to a lawyer"
-ok you are under arrest.

Chocolate Milk

Chocolate Milk.

Strangely I am craving it.

Saturday Mom calls. Her daughter has mental health issues and has not heard from her in a day and no one will open the door at her residence.

They are waiting for an officer.

I get there the landlord has kicked the door in.

She is unresponsive in the bed.

There is a note and an empty bottle of oxycodone, filled the day before, 60 pills.

There is an almost empty glass of chocolate milk. I grab her foot call and her name while I wait for EMTs.

The EMT's arrive and immediately give her something to counter act the pills.

She regains some consciousness and mumbles. I assist the EMTs in carrying her out. We start to take her to the ambulance, she starts throwing up.

Chocolate milk. over and over again.

We carry her through the house and have to stop to tilt her, so she can throw up more chocolate milk.

We get her to the ambulance, her family is watching. She continues to throw up chocolate milk.

I follow the ambulance to the hospital.

The EMTs unload her. I look in the back of the ambulance expecting nothing but chocolate milk.

EMTs catches my looking.

"what you looking for?"
-checking to see if the ambulance is covered in chocolate milk.
"She threw up the whole way, but we managed to catch it."

Two days later I still want chocolate milk

Theft

"I would like to report a theft"

-okay

"my neighbor took my shed."

-okay, why?

" well I bought the property. it was in foreclosure for a while and the neighbor took a shed off the property.

-okay I'll talk to him

I drive to the neighbors house.

-did you remove a shed from the neighbor's?
"yeah the previous owner gave it to me and I took it off about 6 months ago"

I listen to his side. It is a civil manner I can't make heads or tails of who owns what. The shed is huge and isn't going anywhere.

I tell both parties.
-you need to get a copy or proof you own the shed and take it to civil court.

Lying pt 2

We get a call from another agency.

There is a lady with a two felony warrants at an address, could I go check.
-Sure. (the address is rarely good, but I'll make the effort)

I go to the address.
-hi I am DD, I am looking for Evelyn to give a notice.

ex-husband," she doesn't live here. she gets her mail, but she live with Pauline, here is her phone number. what is this about.

-well, I can't really tell you. I just have to notify Evelyn of something in person.

"ok"
I call the number and leave a message call me back.

ten minutes later Evelyn calls.
"what is this about?"
-I need to give you notice in person.
"Why?"
-another agency requested it.
"you aren't going to arrest me?"
-why would I arrest you?
"I don't know"

I get her address and fake I am checking her for warrants
-looks like you have a warrant out of Wyoming. I check if it is cite and release. That way I can get you cleared.
"okay, check and let me know"

I call Dispatch and confirm the 2 felony warrants.

-I called they are checking. I am still on hold, but I think it is cite and release. Meet me at the Circle K in 5 minutes.
"okay"

She shows up. I pretend I am on the phone confirming the warrant. She hesitates getting out of the car, but does.

-your under arrest. Wyoming wants you arrest and will transport you.
"I already did 90 days on that charge"
-well the judge wants to talked to you.

I transport her. I feel a little bad. Lying is not the best tactic. I even ask other officers. Not there usual tactic either, but...
Wyoming send the warrants. Assault II and Assault II Domestic Violence (involving a gun)

Lying pt 1

I am driving around running plates.

I find a warrant.

I call and the warrant confirmed, while I drive around the block.

I find the car it is parked in front of a house, although it parked a little askew.

The warrant is confirmed.

I knock on the door.
-hey is the owner of the car home? it is kind of in the road.

owner comes out.
-are you Tammy?
"yes"
-okay you are under arrest. you have a warrant.
"oh, do you want me to move the car?"
-no you friend can after I leave.

I don't like lying, but she had two wrrants

Family

Short handed and bopping from call to call

I get the verbal call.
Father vs. Daughter

I get there Dad is drunk and daughter is tweaking. He tells me she took a couple Hydrocodone and he just wants them back. Her purse, backpack and handbag are laying in the driveway, some contents spilled. Dad says the pills are in her purse. I have already found a small container of MJ near the purse.

She is rambling and says all the bags are hers, but she doesn't want to me to look through her stuff.
"It's a gypsy backpack"
-meaning?
"I borrowed it from a friend"
-okay, but purse and handbag are yours?
"And most of the stuff in the backpack"

I start the search of the bags.

I give my partner the sign, X's at the wrist.
She goes from tweaker, to hysterical tweaker, yelling at dad. Who is more concerned about getting the Hydrocodone back. I put her in the car. I ask dad to go away.

I find mushrooms, meth, pot, a lot of hydrocodone, various unknown pills, tooters, pipes, a needle, screen and various other drug stuff.

She admits to slamming dope this morning. She admits she sells pills. She has never been to jail. I have to get her cleared by the hospital before booking her due to the pink eye. That only takes 1.5 hrs. She talks the whole time about using drugs and how much of a dick her dad is.

GoatRope

Goatrope - something time consuming with a lot of work and very little outcome. Also known as a clusterfrack. Closely related to civil matters.

Civil matters-example: husband and wife are getting a divorce. They own a house together. One calls the police on the other to say they are stealing property or trespassing at the house or harassing them. They are mad at each other and want the other person arrested when;
1-property belongs to both people (which requires a judgement)
2-the both own the property and you can't trespass on your own property
3-being a jerk is still the freedom of speech

Yesterday was a 3hr goatrope. Stolen cars.

#1 left cars on piece of property
#2 bought property
#2 request #1 remove items from property. #1 does nothing. #2 gets cars deemed as abandoned and therefore his property. #1 receives notice and doesn't remove cars until after the are deemed abandoned. Ongoing Civil matter involving letters from attorneys
#2 calls there are stolen and they at 2 different addresses. #2 faxes a copy of the attorney letter and judgement my office

#3 helped #1 move the car as favor, not knowing anything. returns the cars
#4 helped #1 move the car as favor, is also in a legal dispute with #2 and calls me a racist and wonders why I am the lap dog of #2. #4 states his attorney said to remove the property and has a letter. The letter only refers to barricades blocking access not cars. #4 states the department never helps him or responds, but put the car back.

#2 is notified all the cars are returned and civil matters need to be handled in court. please contact your attorney.

Family

Last week I get the fun call.

Mom calls. Her son and son's wife are getting a divorce.
-Yeah I know I trespassed her from the residence and calling him.
"Well she is sending me harassing via calls, text and pornographic pictures"
-okay, I understand how that would be upsetting
"YEAH!?! Look at this"
She shows me the cell phone with pictures, at least 3, of her son masturbating.
-wow, that's odd, let me see what I can do.

I call the another officer and DA. It's odd.
I call the son's soon to be exwife.
-hey this is deputydog, you are can't call mom anymore or you will be arrested, understand?
"Yes"
-so do you want to tell me what's going on?
"he called me and wanted to have phone sex, so I said sure and he sent me pictures masturbating. I was replying to his message/text and instead of sending it to my husband, I slipped and sent it to her....a couple of times. I am terribly embarrassed. He won't call and apologize to her for me, because he is embarrassed."
-ok, no more contact.

1 hr later another officer gets the call, she is still texting mother in-law.
